Braised Lamb Shanks with Red Wine Sauce Recipe
This is an excellent way to enjoy a more budget-friendly cut of lamb, and this recipe is all about quality lamb and the superb sauce!
It is SO easy: simply cook the shanks until tender in the divine, veggie-filled sauce and be amazed by all of the flavor and nutrients from a cut that started out tough and ended in perfection!
Puree or strain the sauce if you want it smooth (a great way to hide the vegetables from the children!), but don’t throw them away, save and use the flavor-infused diced bits in pasta sauce, meatloaf, whatever!
Serve over mashed potatoes (mashed cauliflower, anyone?), rice, or even pasta!
Plus, even though it’s an excellent method for shanks, it would be great for other budget cuts as well (shoulder roast or neck). There is a short picture video on the last page.
