I’m the second little piggy.
“This little piggy went to market
This little piggy stayed home
This little piggy had roast beef
And this little piggy had none
And this little piggy cried “wee wee wee” all the way home!”
That is precious Ruth’s favorite nursery rhyme, and I love “doing her piggies” for her.
But, unfortunately, I am one of those piggies right now! Would you care to guess which one?
Although I would love some roast beef, I have to confess that I am the second piggy. I am the piggy that stayed home from market.
That’s right, I am giving myself the big “F.” F for failure. Sounds like a Sue Grafton mystery. But, there’s no mystery here as to why I am staying home: my pies are not done.
Okay, okay, they’re *technically* done, but, not to my liking. I, in my rushed and sleep-deprived state, only gave myself time to make half of what I would like to take to market today.
What I did make?
Eh, not so good.
Strawberry Rhubarb is not set up, the apple is a little too brown on top, the list goes on.
Are they eatable? Edible? Palatable? Yes, most certainly. The best? No.
Folks, my faithful and supportive customers, I will not sell you anything that I am not one hundred percent happy with and confident about. At Pell’s it’s all about real ingredients, quality, and old world flavor.
You’re welcome.
So, for today I am going to have to give myself a mental spanking and a good “Briana-shame-on-you-what-about-your-customers” tongue lashing, and sit this one out.
Never fear, however, Pell’s Pie Patch & Family Farm will be at market next Wednesday after a good resting up! Fabulous pies and breads are in your near future! Always fresh, never frozen or from a can or “mix.”
Until then, enjoy the market and make sure to visit my fellow vendors (Hello, Furlong Creek Farm!)!
Now it is off to be the sixth little piggy that some people don’t know about: The one that has to sample and taste test pies. It’s my responsibility.
Yours Truly,
The Pell Pie Maker
